The Polar Wolf, also known as the Arctic Wolf, lives in the northern part of North America. Smaller than some other subspecies of canids, it can still measure up to 47 inches long (tail included), for an average of 99 pounds. Recognizable by its thick white fur, short legs and rounder nose, the Polar Wolf can withstand temperatures up to -75 F. However, these extreme conditions make coupling difficult. The male and the female alpha are the only ones to have the right of reproduction within the pack, and after 2 months of gestation only 2 to 3 cubs are born. The cubs are born blind and deaf and are therefore entirely dependent on their mother."
